Our team biography page is a detailed and factual account of each of our instructors, life-long experience in the arts, written by other’s regarding their education, career, achievements, challenges, relationships, aiming to present a comprehensive, chronological story of a real individual. Each has been significantly researched, from a number of sources and seek to inspire our readers by offering insight into the subjects experiences and societal impact.
Meet Kim Engel, our founder and highly talanted instructor from Toronto, Ontario.
Kim Engel began her dance career at the early age of three and over the years excelled in all disciplines of dance incorporating ballet, jazz, acrobatics, modern, tap and lyrical. As her skills developed so did her love and passion for dance and there was no doubt in her mind that dance was forevermore going to be a large part of her life.
Kim has attained full membership status with the Canadian Dance Teachers Association, Dance Masters of America, Acrobatic Arts, PBT, IDA Ballet Association and is the proud owner and studio director of The Dance Connection for the past 26 years.
Over the past 30 years, Kim has been recognized for her outstanding and unique choreography as well as her ability to teach proper technique and performance skills for all ages. Over many years her students have won both regional and national titles including Petite Miss Dance (DMA). In addition, some of her students have been accepted to the National Ballet School summer program and the Raptors Mini Dance Pac.
Kim has had the privilege of studying with many great teachers and choreographers at various workshops and conventions across Canada and the USA. She is especially honoured to have studied under Miss Paula Morgan for 4 years. Kim continues to keep current with styles and new techniques to help her dancers grow.
The enduring love for dance began over 40 years ago and today she brings enthusiasm and knowledge to the art of dance! Good luck to all the dancers. Leave it all on the dance floor!
Meet Bryanne Sawaged, our highly talanted, award winning instructor from Toronto, Ontario.
Bryanne Sawgaged started dancing at the age of 5. She has trained in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop and lyrical with many accomplished teachers. Bryanne is a member teacher of the B. A. T. D. and has attended many workshops in Canada, the United States and Europe. As a competitor, she was a member of the Canadian National Tap Dance Team that won the 1st Canadian Gold Medal in 1998 in Reisa, Germany. She has also participated in many competitions at both the regional and national levels. Bryanne has taught and choreographed for many studios in the Toronto and surrounding communities. Her work has won many prestigious awards and scholarships. Bryanne is a very passionate and energetic teacher who encourages confidence, discipline and commitment from all of her students. Bryanne has a very special talent in communicating and working with children.
